Ron Simons
Rest in Power
On June 19, 2021 (another Father’s Day) Project1VOICE honored Ron Simons with our Transformative Trailblazer Award during our 2nd Annual Project1VOICE Honors Award Live Telecast. We should always give people their flowers while they are still here on earth.
This is Ron’s acceptance speech for his Project1VOICE HONOR. I was searching for a unique way to memorialize this titan of the entertainment industry, this speech epitomizes who Ron was and will always be. He left an impressive mark that changed us all forever and for good.
BTW, pay no attention to me on camera. This entire presentation was unscripted, unrehearsed, and unbelievable all at the same time. It was rough. Howev...

Today is February 14th Valentine’s Day. It's also the birthday of Gregory Hines, the genial, suave dancer, singer and actor who for many personified the art of classical tap in the 1980's and 90's. He was born in 1946, in NYC. To celebrate Gregory Hines and his birthday we’re taking a look back through his Broadway career. Gregory Hines made his Broadway debut at the age of 8 alongside his 11-y...

Labor Day and Black Women

As we celebrate Labor Day, let’s remember the Black women who helped make this day possible. This year marks the 102nd anniversary of the National Association of Wage Earners (NAWE), a little-known but important Black women’s labor organization of the early 20th century. Although the labor movement is often credited to White male industrial workers, it was Black female organizers who, more than...

ruclips.net/video/5v9wzPxhDfg/видео.htmlsi=NT8qcGiv_y8-WX8L HINTON BATTLE sings "My Luck Is Changing" from Broadway's THE TAP DANCE KID
As a young white overweight shy male at the time and even today , Martine and her song then and even today has always been an inspiration for me. This show was so inspirational at the time and has been a part of me as i worked in theatre for the past 40 years.
❤❤❤❤❤ love 4 Life André…A True Thespian 🎭 🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭🎭
Will be in attendance.

It has been an incredible week for Black Women performers! Billie would be so proud!!
Finally!!!! Congratulations!!!!
Where's Carlton?
If anyone online or in person asks “Is there a male equivalent of Rose’s Turn?” I always answer, William’s Song from The Tap Dance Kid... find it!! ❤️
Nice!

This conversation is AMAZING! I miss James Stovall. Carla, James was famous for pushing folks out of their comfort zone. 😀❤️
What a joy! I have watched this over and over again. It never gets old. This cast, this show, this conversation--just priceless! Still pinching myself and still listening to the cast recording. A class act!!! Thank you all🥂💗
Thank you to the OBC cast of THE LIFE, I saw THE LIFE on Broadway in 1997 with my best friend the late Trent Armand Kendall. We had seen the show on the boards for years. We first heard about the musical from a mutual friend of ours-the late Ed Battle-who played Fleetwood in many of THE LIFE’s workshop/backers incarnations. I was completely intrigued by the premise from the start. Plus with music by Cy Coleman, orchestrations by Harold Wheeler, LIllias White, Chuck Cooper and the rest of this outstanding cast of mesmerizingly unforgettable talents, our tickets were already purchased. I was captivated by THE LIFE from the initial down beat and by the time we got to “My Friend” I was wiping tears away. The love between Queen and Sonja rival the great tragic musical theater love stories of our time . In fact I listened to the soundtrack today and welled up at the same place. Through this reunion I/we learned so much about how THE LIFE journeyed from its humble inception, to backer’s auditions, opening night and the show’s closing after 466 performances and 21 previews. These are insights you can only get from people who were actually in the room where it all happened. What an extreme pleasure to revisit many of those memories with all of you 25 years later. The chemistry, joy and genuine affection this cast has for one another is infectious and undeniable. The candor of the conversation thrills, fulfills and comforts simultaneously. Your loving kindness and caring generosity made my job as host effortless. I had blast with y’all. It was loads of fun!! Bravo to you all for making memorable magic on Broadway that changed so many lives for the better and for good. 🥂 With loving gratitude, respect and adoration always, Erich
So so glad, you two! Looking beautiful, spreading joy, ENJOY!!! Much success for Billy Porter and "THE LIFE"
I am so sorry I missed out on this in real time, but grateful to be able to watch after the fact, thank you Erich!! What a beautiful reunion, to see everyone here, just makes my heart so full!! TDK was an incredible work experience/life experience...it will never leave me! Seeing y'all here, my mind is flooded with the memories, and the monumental talent, Lord!! Each of you, an unstoppable powerhouse in your own way. Forever grateful for the gift this show was and still is. Y'all look incredible, hugging each and everyone from here, so so sweet...
Erich - Thank you so much for doing this reunion. I have now seen TAP DANCE KID four times...twice on Broadway, once on tour and then again last night at City Center. Needless to say, I am a tremendous fan! The performance last night and this stream have brought back such memories. So much so, that I dug my souvenir program out of storage today and it's in pristine condition. If any of your guests would like scans of any photos, just let me know. It's of the original national tour cast, so it has Hinton Battle, Ben Harney, Martine Allard, Dulé Hill, Monica Pege, Dawnn J. Lewis, Theresa Hayes and Harold Nicholas. Keep up the great work with Project1VOICE!!!
Wow it’s amazing to see a reunion.
Thanks Erich and Thanks City Center for doing this show! I can't wait to see it!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ This reunion is FABULOUS!!!! Love it!!!
Hooray to all of you!!!! Such a great musical memory for me. Miss and think of all of you. Fabulous then and now. Loved playing piano for all of you in the pit and in rehearsal. Such talent and performers. Where did the time go??? Love, Love, Love!!!! Larry Esposito. 😃😄😄😄😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you for doing this reunion! Brilliant artists and an amazing show!
What amazing memories🎭🎶💥
Where is Marjorie Martine Allard, the Emmy nominated first performer of the Tap Dance Kid? I attended that 13 times. Martine was a student of mine.
She is introduced at 10:21. She was deservedly nominated for a Tony for her performance.
Congratulations, Erich!!!! This is Martti by the way. Keep rocking
Congratulations to The Howard Players and all the 2021 Honorees.
Well done, you get a thumbs up👍!
Hey E. Wonderful. Shared it with my faceboo, twitter and pinterest family. xoxo, Kimberly

WE can't afford NOT to get involved!!! Thank you, 1Voice!!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Mr. King a few years ago. He was a fantastic host to me 5 years ago when I visited NY where he arranged to see Melba Moore in a one woman show. A great time indeed.
